Four world records for down quilts!

by wanghuaiyong 29 Jan 2024

According to statistics from the International Down Association, the popularity of down bedding in developed, developing and poor countries is very different: Japan's down bedding penetration rate is 103%, the United States's 87%, Europe's penetration rate is basically 70%.

Why are down quilts so popular in developed countries?

1. The lightest quilt

If a quilt can be insulating and breathable, then the lighter the better! A quilt that is too heavy may directly affect the blood flow of the human body. Especially in winter, the elderly are likely to be oppressed by the weight and suffer a stroke or sudden death.

The down quilt is currently the lightest natural warm bedding in the world. When tested with a down quilt with a down content of 50%, under the same temperature standard environment, its lightness and fluffiness are 2.5 times that of cotton and 2.2 times that of wool.

2.The warmest quilt

The real reason that affects warmth retention is the fluffiness of the quilt. Because the quilt is fluffy, it contains more still air, thus isolating the exchange of external cold air, making it the most suitable sleeping environment to maintain a temperature of 32 degrees.

Down thermal insulation principle:

  • Unique structure.down is the only unique spherical structural fiber, so the bulkiness is the highest.
  • It will not form knots. Compared with cotton quilts and wool quilts, down quilts have lower hygroscopicity. This keeps the down fluffy and helps maintain warmth.

3. The most durable quilt

The fabrics of duvets are generally made of better high-count and high-density fabrics, which have very good durability. In addition, the down itself has good fluffy properties. A good-quality duvet can be used for 30 years if used and stored correctly.

A down quilt priced at 3,000 yuan can be used for 30 years and costs 0.27 yuan per day; a chemical fiber quilt priced at 300 yuan can be used for 2 years and costs 0.41 yuan per day.
